Sabrina,

So is this Meiji stuff like a cereal or like a kit kat or like a glico pockey?

Yes, Kelly. Indo Mee Mee goreng is shiok if you know how to make it. My wife makes it well, while I get it wrong all the time! Often, all the seasoning gets stuck into a little *()*&!)(&^&!^(!% ball while the other parts of the noodles is still white! Ever happen to you? And when you try to mix it up further, it becomes smashed up like chai tow kuay! Or carrot cake!

My current fave food is raspberry jam with crunchy peanut butter on white bread. Yum-yum!!! Amacham mau slim down??

I know what you mean but after years of practicing, I've perfected the skill of making Indo mee "Mee Goreng".

First is the mee. P(the wife) and I like it al dente so the mee must not be in the boiling water for too long.

Next, which is also very important is the two packet of seasoning. The first packet (black gluey stuff and oil) has to be added first. Then you add the second packet (MSG seasoning and chilli). Once both the packet of ingredience are together, slowly mix the four seasoning, either with a fork or chopstick in a clockwise direction. It will initially look quite messy but after 77seconds, the mixture starts to coagulate and you will get a kind of thick paste and you can't see the oil anymore.

Now, take out the mee from the boiling water (should be boiled for 3 min 19 sec) and put it on the plate with the paste that you have stired.

AND DON'T POUR THE BOILING WATER AWAY.
Put an egg into the boiling water for 3 mins 24 sec.

In the meantime, start mixing the mee and the paste. Initially, it's still a bit tough as, like you said, there are still white parts but continue to mix it for 2 min 11 sec. Take the parts that are still white and shove it to the bottom of the plate. That's where all the paste is and by this time, the heat of the mee had already melted the paste to a semi-thick liquid. It then becomes easier to mix and stir.

NOW, take out the egg (after 3 min 24 sec and should be 2/3 boiled), crack it, use a tea spoon, scrape out the egg from both halfs of the shell and empty it into the mee.

Now, do a final mix (with the egg). The end product should be an evely mixed mee with the paste and bits of egg all round and the mee will have a glittering look. <go to top>

Try it.

Cheers

What does al dente mean?

In pasta terms, "Al dente" means that the texture of the spaggetti (or other kinds of pasta) is not too soft. A bit hard but not uncooked. In Chamber's Dictionary, it states " firm to the teeth". It is hard work, that is why when I make it I will use 2 or 3 packet for more or less the same effort. We should have a mee goreng gathering at my place some time so that I can show you my mee goreng prowess. What say you Angel's?

Good Morning angels,

Ooohhh...so that's why Kelly wrote the manual. I use a microwave, and it is still quite okay. This recipe recommended when you are single. For matrimonial recipe with very particular COs, use Kelly's formula.

(Bachelor's formula) -- Use a shallow plate and little water so that the mee is crunchy. Microwave for 1 min++ w/boiling water and flip once. Drain completely, squeeze out seasoning over mee and whip the whole damm thing up; drink soup from plate edge after mee is finished...damm sedap! <go to top>

Kelly I think Kate is on Phase IV where you act so freakin' blur about a simple instant noodle that it gets prepared for you. But that will be a tricky transition for you to make. I suggest you think long and hard before you decide to upgrade the meiji mee situation.

Phase I - swingin single - make it and eat it, as you like it.
Phase II - courtin' - make for perempuan and she likes it.
Phase III - married - kena drop 20 until you got it right.
Phase IV - married - act blur, wife cannot tahan, she do for you. Check wife's temperament before proceeding to this phase!
